In the world of gay travel destinations, few mountain locales jump to the top of the list. After guests have done the “circuit;” Key West, South Beach and Provincetown, refined, sophisticated yet adventurous men seem to find us! After a day of thrill-seeking, basking in nature and enjoying our rugged wilderness, return to the Club and Inn to be pampered and treated with utmost care and attention by our dedicated and professional staff. Attention to detail. The finer things. Luxury. You deserve nothing less.

Most guests realize they are no longer in the Village or on Castro, when they see signs indicating "Moose Crossing" or when we are on "Bear alert" and it’s not the kind of bear you’re thinking of! There are guests who never venture very far from the Main Lodge. Some guests spend hours relaxing in our courtyard, surrounded by flowers. Others while away a lazy afternoon on the rear deck or in the salon, reading a book or sipping wine in one of our cushy leather club chairs, beside a roaring fire. Meal periods are a highlight of every day at the Saranac Club and Inn, with our chef serving delicious and inspiring culinary presentations! If dance clubs are what you’re looking for (a la Splash, or The Eagle), bring your passport! Montreal is a short two hour drive and offers one of the most exciting gay communities in North America. Most guests return to our inn and regale us with the stories of their international day trip!

"Now I know why the Saranac Club and Inn is the only hotel in the Adirondacks that has been admitted into the Small Elegant Hotels of the World! As a working professional, they made doing business while on holiday as painless as possible. Their business centre had everything I needed. Secretarial services, faxing, a computer and copying station with internet access. In addition, there is a bubble over the entire property, so that I could sit with my laptop out on the courtyard and surf the net. I forgot my card, so they even let me borrow theirs! Wait staff repeatedly freshened my drink (complimentary!) without my even having to ask! At this hotel, it's ALL about hospitality and customer service!"

"After being in a committed relationship for 15 years, rare is the night we await going to bed with such eager anticipation! First, the bedtime snack service! ‘What will it be tonight?’ we pondered. Homemade cookies or brownies or their trademark Mango Mousse tart (their Pastry Chef is phenomenal!) But the brand new state-of-the-art Tempur-Pedic mattresses and pillows provided us with the most extraordinary night’s sleep in years! In all of our years, there have been few hotel experiences that have risen to this level. Putting guest comfort and satisfaction above nearly everything else. We’ll be back."

"Who among us doesn’t get some sort of thrill out of all of the little extras found in a hotel room? Here, the toiletries are incredible! Bvlgari is the brand name, known all over the world for their quality! Then there are the imported chocolate truffles and other high end confections that greeted us! Bottled water that was replenished every day. Thick plush bathrobes and towels, such a quality rarely found! Really, we wanted for nothing! The concierge and 24-hour room service satisfied our every request!"

"It is not very often to come across a gay hotel or gay friendly property that offers its guests such thorough and luxurious service. We especially enjoyed the afternoon tea in the parlour. Even with the critical eye of a designer, nearly everything was to perfection! Many thanks."

"There are plenty of hotels in the Adirondacks that solicit "OUR" business. There is however, no property to my knowledge (and I’ve been vacationing here for 12 years!) that is as unabashedly "downright FRIENDLY." I knew I had landed on the other side of the rainbow when I arrived in Saranac Lake and discovered other "members of the choir" singing in the parlour with Judy, Liza and Bobby Short. A gay hotel in Lake Placid? In the Adirondacks, it doesn’t get any better!"

"It’s a great small hotel! The staff encourages us to think of it as our "mountain mansion." It’s an elegant hotel. My linens at home are not 500-count Egyptian cotton, all hand-woven in Italy, averaging $400 a set! It’s a luxury hotel! No legal request went unfulfilled! It’s a small leading hotel, based on how this property seems to set the standards and other properties follow! But above all, it is an original and I wouldn’t think of staying anyplace else!"

"The above comments are from our past guests. We’re humbled by their thoughtful praise. It is our goal, indeed our passion, to provide our clientele, gay and non-gay, with a level of service that exceeds their expectations. The Adirondacks are majestic. Shouldn’t your vacation be as well? We hope you will consider the Saranac Club and Inn on your next trip to Lake Placid and Saranac Lake."
